The project is dedicated to nostalgia, a defining trait of the artist’s generation. This longing for the past is expressed through childhood memories of old advertising images that once filled city streets in the 2000s, as well as early internet spaces, and the characters and interfaces of computer games.
In this series, Alina depicts characters from yogurt packages, snack wrappers, and advertisements — elements of mass and folk culture that, one might assume, should have been timeless, yet have now faded into obscurity. The project presents a collage of memories, offering a kaleidoscopic visual representation of what is often called the Zeitgeist. The mass culture imagery in these works merges personal childhood recollections with a broader cultural myth that has formed over the past two decades, tied to nostalgia for the lifestyle of the 2000s.
